Story Book Albums10.20.11

There are many different ways to present your photos.  Rather than just a group portrait for the wall, having a selection of your photographs preserved in an album shows so much more about you.  It’s a slice of your lives together at a moment in time;  the interaction and relationships of your family.  All shot in a location that has meaning to you.  Here are a few photos of Nichola and Aaron’s family story book album.  It’s twenty pages of beautifully printed photographs bound into a 7×7 inch album.  Have you ever considered having a story book album made of your family?

Walking in Whangarei10.14.11

We’re so lucky here in NZ.  All that beautiful bush and coastline.  Around Whangarei we are particularly blessed in both of these areas. We even have Kauri trees right in town…….well practically!  I know that I’m meant to have a photo of myself on my website, but hey, I’m camera shy.  I’m far better behind the camera I assure you.   However on a trip to the A H Reed Kauri Park the other day, I somehow ended up in a picture, so here it is.  Our beautiful natural bush…….and me.  To quote Anita, one of my clients, who sent me a photo of herself and fiance Richard,  ”random, but always good to know what people look like.”

Environmental portraiture is my favourite.  This young family are home in NZ from Australia’s Gold Coast for the Rugby World Cup.  Both of the children were born in Australia, both parents in New Zealand.  We decided to go to the Whangarei Falls for this session, to get a decidedly New Zealand feel to the images.  I love these photos……..ok, so I’m biased……..Dan is my nephew!  Oh, and go the AB’s!

Winter Wedding at Carrington08.22.11

All this wintery weather we’ve been having I thought I’d share some sunny Northland, winter wedding shots.  Northland is a popular place for a wedding, due largely to it’s stunning coastal scenery.  Not too many people consider it for a winter wedding though, but as Jennifer and David’s wedding photos show, it is a brilliant option.  Married in late June last year at Carrington Resort, on the Karikari Peninsula, the day was clear and calm.  The couple chose to have the intimate ceremony indoors to be on the safe side.  I just love the beautiful soft natural light.  The real bonus for having a wedding at this time of the year is the shorter days, allowing for capturing that end of the day light at a perfect time, just before the reception.  And I love the fact that this couple just didn’t want to wait!

This is the second time I’ve had the privilege of photographing Xander and his family. Here are a couple of shots of this colourful character from our recent portrait album shoot.
